GT SLOTS

 

SLOT.IT REGIONAL

 

DATE/TIME (all times Eastern):  Friday, 8/7/09.   Track open from 5pm - 7pm for practice.  Around 7pm, tech inspection to start, racing target start time is 8pm.  Race heat length for each lane depends on number of entries, target time:  10 min./lane.  A GTSLOTS supplied Slot.IT orange endbell 21.5k RPM motor will be issued to racers for this race, to be returned at the end of the race.

1. Eligible Cars:  Porsche 956LH, 956KH, 962C, Mercedes Sauber C9, Jaguar XJR9, Lancia LC2.  Click here for example pictures of eligible cars.

a. All the parts of the model must be the ones used in the box stock cars.

b. Their replacement, or any modification, can only be done according to the rules herein.

 

2. Model Chassis:  All the chassis revisions sold by Slot.IT for any of the eligible cars are allowed.  Only inline or sidewinder pods are allowed.

a. The chassis can be cleaned from injection flash, and can be slightly filed to allow a proper movement of the body on the chassis, as long as the modification is not immediately visible.

b. The maximum diameter of the holes for body mounting screws is 2.5mm.

c. Each team must write the team name on the external part of the chassis.

d. Maximum front and rear wheel width tire-to-tire is respectively 62.5mm and 63.5mm.

e. The magnetic suspension CH09 is allowed, even with ferrite magnets CN05.

f. The front axle supports are not mandatory.

g. Should the organizer deem the team's chassis as not complying to the technical specification, a new off the shelf chassis will be provided by the organizers, and this new chassis shall be used by the team.

 

3. Motor Chassis:

a. Spherical bushings CH14 are mandatory.

b. Spacers are only allowed between the stopper and the motor chassis, and between the bushing and the crown gear.

c. Minimum clearance between motor and track, with new tires and measured under rear axle, is 2.2mm.

d. Washers can be inserted under the heads of the screws used for fastening the motor mount.

 

4. Model Body:

a. Must be complete in all its parts, except for mirrors, wipers, antennas and other parts specified in this document.

b. Cannot be made lighter by sanding or any other means.  Weight limit:

- CA02 (Porsche 956LH)  20g

- CA03 (Porsche 962C) 21g

- CA06 (Sauber C9) 21g with modifications for magnetic suspension

-CA07 (Jaguar XJR9) 21.5g Without rear wheel covers

- CA08 (Lancia LC2) 21g

- CA09 (Porsche 956KH) 21.5g

c. Must be completely painted so that no unpainted areas remain (no clearcoat only on white plastic), and the body weight should be no less than the standard box stock bodies.

d. Must be attached to the chassis through the provides crew mount posts, that can be reinforced.

e. Windows must remain transparent.

 

5. Lighting Kit:

Optional, must be Slot.IT brand.

 

6. Changes to the body of the car:

a. Body can be drilled to install the lighting kit's LEDs, which will replace the corresponding parts representing the lights on the model.

b. All the Slot.IT aftermarket parts ("tearproof" kits) for each model can be used.

c. Rear wing attachment can be reinforced with glue or tape, provided the body shape is not substantially altered.

d. Porsche (all):  if the SP06 lighting kit is used, the driver's legs can be cut or bent at the knee, to avoid interference with the lighting kit itself.

e. Sauber C9:  if the magnetic suspension is used, the plastic parts which interferes with the suspension can be removed.  The rear wing and its support cannot be changed.

f. Sauber C9:  removal of the old fixing tabs of the exhaust part to the body

g. Sauber C9: (not relevant since anglewinder mount not being used)

h. Sauber C9:  the vertical fins of the parts reproducing the rear brake air intakes can be trimmed, in order to avoid any interference with the rear tires.

i. Jaguar XJR9:  if the magnetic suspension is used, the plastic parts which interferes with the suspension can be removed.

j. Jaguar XJR9:  rear wheel cover, and its corresponding interlock plastic receptacles on the body, can be removed.

k. Lancia LC2:  due to difficulty in finding the specific spare, the chassis can be used without the central rear wing struts, originating from the chassis itself.

 

7. Mounting screws:

a. As many screws as are in the off the shelf cars must be used.

b. Can be replaced and must be no longer than 11.5mm, except for the magnetic suspension screws, which cannot be altered and are admitted both in the long and short type.

c. The body and motor mount screws can be left partially unscrewed and must be metallic.

 

8. Ballast (weight): allowed for this race.

 

9. Guide:  Slot.IT CH26 clip or CH10 screw type only, no modification to profile.

 

10. Braid:  free choice.

a. Braids must be attached to the pickup through the brass eyelet like in the off the shelf cars.

b. Braids cannot be glued to the pickup, nor soldered to the power cables.

 

11. Magnets:  not allowed (except for motor; magnetic suspension also allowed as indicated in section 2e above)

 

12. Motor and pinion:  Slot.IT orange endbell 21.5k RPM handed out by race official, with no pinion attached.  Driver can install any Slot.IT pinion gear.

a. Motor cannot be fastened to the motor mount by glue or tape.

b. Any maneuver to increase the motor's performance is forbidden, including running-in and use of performance enhancements liquid.  To this purpose, the motor shall be assembled under the scrutineer's surveillance during pre-race verification and lubrication will be done with oil provided by the organizers.

 

13. Power cables:  Free choice.

a. Power cables can only be used to bring current to electrical devices; in particular, they cannot be used to change the riding height of the front axle or the body.

 

14. Axles:  Any Slot.IT axle.

 

15. Wheels:  Slot.IT as specified below:

a. Front wheels:  any of the PA17 family (P1, AL, Mg).  Rear wheels:  either PA17-Al or PA17-Mg.

b. Wheel covers are mandatory, and must be of the "Gr. C' type:  PA21/30/31/34.

c. The white Venturi lid can be omitted from BBS wheel insert PA1`.

d. Wheels can be glued to their axles.

 

16. Spur Gear:  Any Slot.IT gear, can be glued to axle.

 

17. Tires:  Slot.IT as specified below:

a. Front tires, visibly marked "Slot.IT", must cover the wheel entirely, must have a diameter not smaller than 16.8mm, and such diameter must be constant across the wheel's section (PT19 ok).

b. Rear tires will be assembled under scrutineer's surveillance during pre-race verifications and lubrication will be done with alcohol or other liquid provided by the organizers.  TIres cannot be glued to the rim.  No other substance can be added to the tires except for those provided by the organizers.

c. Rear tires will be any size S1 or S2 compund, no F1 tires allowed.

 

18. Controller:  Free choice per below.

a. The maximum voltage and maximum current available at the throttle's contacts must not be larger than those provided by the power supply, and the lowest available voltage must not be any lower than the power supply's ground.

b. Track connection is depending on the specific venue, this must be published ahead of the event.

 

19. Power Supply:  Track voltage will be in the range of 12v - 12.5v.
