GTSLOTS NSR LEMANS CLASSIC 2011 REGIONAL RACE 

 

DATE/TIME:  (all times Eastern):  Saturday, July 23, 2011

Track will open for practice  11am.  Tech inspection will start at 12 noon, with racing starting about 12:30pm.   Racing will consist of a 10 minute segment on each of the four lanes.  Top 4 finishers qualify for the NSR LeMans Classic North America finals, held at Lightning Speedway, Livonia, Michigan on July 31, 2011.

ELIGIBLE CARS

Any livery of the following NSR cars will be eligible for regional and final races: Ford GT40 Mk. II, Ford GT40 Mk. IV, Ford P68, Porsche 917k.  Click here for pictures of eligible cars:

GENERAL

- Racing will be magnetless. 
- Cars will be impounded after the inspection process and remain impounded until the beginning of the race.
- All participating race cars will be inspected to insure rule compliance prior to the start of the race. A few test laps (the number to be determined by the race organizer) will be allowed prior to final inspection.

- Each driver will race for 10 minutes on each of the 4 lanes.  Duration of segments subject to change by race director based on number of entries.
- Drivers cannot touch their cars after tech, unless done while the race clock is running for their race segment.
- Any controller is allowed, provided that controller does not store an electrical charge.

THE BODY

Bodies must not be modified or cut in any way and must be completely painted in a realistic racing livery if not predecorated.  Cars must start each race with all parts intact except for mirrors, wipers, antennas and similar small protruding parts.  Bodies may be attached to chassis using any type/brand of screws but only in stock locations. Body screws may be run loose and tape must be placed over screw holes under chassis prior to final submission to tech. Cars must have unmodified full stock (non vacuum formed) painted interior and all windows must be kept transparent with the exception of tampo /decal headers.

CHASSIS

Only original or replacement chassis, any NSR stiffness allowed. Only minor flash removal is allowed on the chassis and motor pod. NO TRACTION MAGNETS. No modifications to axle mounts or bushings are permitted with the exception of ride height adjustment (if equipped). Motor pod suspension springs are not allowed. Any axle spacers or stoppers are allowed. Any ballast may be used but not under chassis. Any motor pod to chassis screws may be used but only in stock locations. Any stock NSR axle may be used.

WHEELS AND TIRES

Any Unmodified NSR wheels are allowed with the stipulation that the original wheel diameter as equipped
must be used front and rear.  Tires are supplied by the racer.  Any NSR tires may be used and may be glued and trued (diameter only) with no visual evidence of significant front tire taper allowed.  Tires may not extend past body when viewed from above.  No chemicals or coatings of any kind may be used on the tires before or during racing competition.

GUIDE BLADES/BRAID

Original NSR guide or any NSR replacement guide may be used.  Any brand replacement braid is allowed.
Any lead wire may be used with the stipulation that front axle travel may not be impeded with the lead wire installation. Any guide shims may be used as desired.

MOTOR

All cars will use the NSR Shark 20k RPM motors, supplied by the racer.  No chemicals (Voo Doo drops, etc.) may be added to the motors.  Motor will be mounted in the sidewinder position.

GEARING

Any NSR gears are allowed.  Lubrication may be applied to gears during to tech inspection, but not allowed during competition.

WEIGHT:

Weight may be added. ALL weight must be fully contained inside the body or magnet holder. Weight may NOT be glued/taped in whole or in part under the chassis.

LIGHTING

Optional, all wiring must be contained within the car.
