RACER RESIN 2010 PHILADELPHIA REGIONAL RESULTS
Racers from PA, NJ, and MD participated in the 2010 Racer Resin Philadelphia regional, held Saturday 8/14/2010 at Great Traditions, aka GTSLOTS. The Ferrari 312p was the car of choice with 5 entered, followed by 3 Ferrari 250LM and 2 Porsche 935k models. Race format was 10 minute segments on each of the 4 lanes of the Carrera track. Cars were run magnetless, with Slot.IT 21.5k RPM motors provided by GTSLOTS that were pre-tested to be within 1k RPM of each other.
Tom Pintchuck was the early leader, finishing the first segment with 81 laps in a Porsche 935k, high total for the blue lane that day. Tom ran 2 segments, then rotated off, to return later for the conclusion of his other 2 segments. As the rotations continued, Phil Pilong was the first to complete all 4 lanes, putting up 300 laps as the target to beat.
Don Johnson then took the lead with 309 laps in a Ferrari 312p, finishing strong with 79 laps on the inside gutter white lane. That didn't last long though, as Sam Barbose drove a Ferrari 250LM in 4 strong segments, including a high lap total of 77 on outer gutter red lane, taking the lead with 314 laps. But again, that didn't last long...
Dave Davis got off to a hot start, setting a new high lap total of 78 on the red lane, and finished off with 79 laps in the other 3 lanes, to finish a lap ahead of Barbose with 315 laps. Bob Kuss was on a roll and fell just track sections short of Barbose.
In the final heat, Tom Pintchuck and Robert Holt both had a shot a the lead. Tom would need a race high 82 laps to pull it out, Robert would need 75, and both would need to finish track segments ahead of Dave Davis. At the end of the final 10 minute run, Holt was able to squeeze by Davis, with Pintchuck finishing 5th. Race results:

Between segments during the race, Rich Shanfeld, owner of Great Traditions, asked some trivia questions, awarding prizes for correct answers. Dave Davis was fortunate enough to win a VERY LIMITED edition Racer Ford P68, with a special black and gold livery, only 50 units produced. History shows limited Racer Resin cars in this quantity are valued at over $500; not bad for just paying a race entry fee. Another of these cars went to Holt for the victory, see below for a picture:

The top 4 finishers advance to the Racer Resin North America final, also held at Great Traditions in Philadelphia, on 11/20/2010. Any clubs, stores, or racing groups wishing to hold a Racer Resin regional event to produce 4 more finalists, should contact Rich Shanfeld at (267) 250-1735. Several prizes including a few more of these gorgeous cars will be awarded at the final.
